Membership in the AAUW Tar Heel Branch can be a great gift to introduce someone to AAUW.
- Unlike a national-only (at-large) membership, it brings AAUW “home” to North Carolina
- Unlike most community-based branches, there’s no time commitment expected of the members, so it can be good for busy women and men whose lives don’t “fit” with the traditional branch model
- If the new member does become interested in a community based branch in North Carolina, s/he can transfer without paying any additional dues.
We offer easy online signup and payment, and we are encouraging gift memberships for the holiday season by accepting early payment for memberships that start in January 2010.
We’ll send you a card you can use to acknowledge the gift (or send one directly to the new member on your behalf).
Get started now:
STEP 1: Complete the online information form.
STEP 2: Click the amount to pay online with a credit card or PayPal account. If you prefer to send a check, make it payable to “AAUW Tar Heel Branch” and send it to our contact address.
- $65.00 – annual membership: available until 12/31, expires 6/30/2010*
- $32.50 – trial membership: available 12/1-3/1, expires 6/30/2010*
- $73.00 – best value membership: available 11/1 – 3/1, expires 6/30/2011*
- $16.00 – new graduates: expires 6/30 next year (state and local, we’ll submit the Give a Grad a Gift form for you)
*Dues and fees that include payments to AAUW are partially tax deductible: $46 of the $65/$73 and $23 of the $32.50 are considered contributions to AAUW, a 501(c)(3) organization as of July 1, 2009. Payments to AAUW NC and to the branch are not tax deductible as charitable contributions, but may be considered professional expenses. Trial and best value memberships may be purchased before January 1 for convenience in holiday giving, but national benefits will start after January 1.
Reminder: To be eligible for AAUW membership, a person must have completed at least an associate degree. Those who are working on a first degree may become student affiliates. If you’d like to give a gift to a student, ask for more details. Completing any associate degree or higher within the last year qualifies a nonmember for the “new graduate” program.

Reminder about the Give-a-Grad memberships. It applies to anyone who has received a degree within the last two years and has not been an AAUW member. See https://svc.aauw.org/join/gradgift.cfml for more information and the form if you wish to fill it out yourself.
